The humble four drop creatures are mid-game MVPs as they pack a punch, shape the board, fuel synergies, and offer late-game utility. They’re the unsung heroes, ready to turn the tide and propel you to Commander glory.
10. Lossarnach Captain
Lossarnach Captain, creating a token at your upkeep and having the ability to tap opponents’ creatures so they cannot block is a strong mechanic in any human-based creature deck. If you can generate mass tokens, you will definitely be swinging for lethal every turn.
9. Wilfred Mott
Wilfred Mott, a new card from the Universes Beyond: Doctor Who set, Wilfred is a little slow at the start, but if he sticks around, he will start to dig deeper in your deck for your Best Three Converted Mana Cost Creatures in White. I will be playtesting him more and more as I can see him being a powerhouse mid-game.
8. Beregond of the Guard
Beregond of the Guard, trust me, if you are playing any type of human token strategy, run this man. HE WILL BUFF THE BOARD EQUAL TO THE AMOUNT OF HUMAN TOKENS THAT ENTER THE BATTLEFIELD. MAKE 10 TOKENS, AND YOUR BOARD GETS +10/+10 AND VIGILANCE. Seriously, run him, as he can be a solid finisher in any token strategy.
7. Odric, Master Tactician
Odric, Master Tactician, let’s say you want to go to combat, and you don’t want your opponent to block. Say those words with Odric out, and then they can’t block. Yep. It works exactly like that. If your playgroup has a lot of midrange token strategy-type decks, throw in Odric and say they can’t block as you swing in for lethal.
6. Myrel, Shield of Argive
Myrel, Shield of Argive, are you struggling with countermagic in your playgroup? Do you already have Grand Abolisher in your deck, and is it still not enough? I present to you Myrel, she not only stops any shenanigans on your turn but also has the small added benefit of generating tokens as well.
5. Mangara, the Diplomat
Mangara the Diplomat, now were getting in the strong four drops. Mangara has saved my midgame so many times with his draw ability. I will always find a slot if I’m playing white to play Mangara; he should be a staple in your white creature-based decks.
4. Ranger of Eos
Ranger of Eos, oh man, let’s talk about some solid tutor effects on a creature. If you haven’t already looked at the potential that The Best One Drop White Humans have, I would recommend checking them out first and then coming back here. Now that you’re back, there is more than any justifiable reason to run this card.
3. Keeper of the Accord
Keeper of the Accord, relevant text on top of relevant text. This card has so much potential; not only does it develop your board state to keep you ahead, but it also ensures you keep up with your land drops.
2. Greymond, Avacyn’s Stalwart
Greymond, Avacyn’s Stalwart, talk about the best offense and defense. Run this if you’re playing a human token strategy. It not only gives your board relevant text through selecting two: first strike, vigilance, or lifelink. It also buffs the board if you have four or more humans.
1. Academy Rector
Academy Rector, did you think anything was better than enchantment-loving grandma? Well, there were a few that were close, but getting your best enchantment when she dies is just too good. I have seen so many games end when she is put into the grave, and my opponent can grab their best enchantments the turn after.
